The Dalai Lama’s ‘Jewish Secret’

As leader of an exiled people, the Dalai Lama of Tibet wanted to learn the “Jewish secret” (as he put it) or surviving in the Diaspora while preserving culture throughout nearly 2,000 years of exile. A delegation of eight rabbis and scholars journeyed to the Dalai Lama’s palace in the Himalayan foothills of North India to compare exilic notes. The Dalai Lama learned about our portable homeland, our home-centered ceremonies, our Talmud – the secrets of our survival. And we learned from him about meditation, compassion, patience, humility…and mostly about ourselves. Hear a firsthand report.
